Born in Kuwait in 1963; Fateh member; holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Memphis; worked at and headed the Bank of Palestine in the Gaza Strip; then became coordinator of the Arab Bank, Gaza Branch; serves as Treasurer of the Palestine Investment Fund and as Sec.-Gen. of the Palestine Banking Association; is a member of the Palestine Food Industries Co.; member of the Palestine National House of Books; serves as Pres. of the Gaza Sporting Club as well as of Atfaluna – Society for Deaf Children in Gaza; became Minister of Energy in the cabinet of PM Mahmoud Abbas on 30 April 2003, serving until Oct. 2003, when late Pres. Yasser Arafat installed a reduced emergency cabinet.
