BETTY DAGHER MAJAJ

Born in the later 1920s to the Lebanese family Dagher in Sidon, Lebanon; moved to Beirut where she attended the Ahliyyeh School; joined the Nursing School where she met her husband, Amin Majaj; moved with him to Jerusalem in 1947; both attended to the sick and the injured during the 1948 Nakba and turned a convent in Bethany into an emergency hospital; later worked at the August Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem as a matron; especially active in the Arab Women’s Union of Jerusalem, where she worked together with Zlikha Shihabi; Director of the Princess Basma Center for Disabled Children since 1983.
