Born in Dura, Hebron, on 26 Nov. 1940; received a BA in Mechanical Engineering from Baghdad University in 1966; became Director of the Vocational Secondary School of Dar Al-Yatim Al-Arabi (Arab Orphanage School) in Jerusalem in 1966; Executive Board member of a committee for private schools in Jerusalem since 1971, also serving as its Sec.-Gen.; founding member of the Higher Council of Education from 1978-92, serving also on its Exec. Committee (1983-88) and as its Sec.-Gen. (1983-85); Board of Trustees member of various organizations, incl. the International Association for the Assistance of Arab Students (whose Sec.-Gen. he was in 1978), the Arab Graduates Club in Jerusalem (1979-91), the Engineers’ League, Jerusalem (becoming its Sec., treasurer and Vice-Pres.), Dar Al-Awlad Society, Jerusalem, since 1980 (and its treasurer); Al-Ummah School (since 1983); the Islamic Culture and Sciences Society, Jerusalem; An-Najah University, Nablus (1983-2000), Al-Awqaf School Council (since 1991), the Arab-Jordanian Institute Society (1991-98), the Faculty of Da’wa and Principles of Religion at Al-Quds University (1984-86 and 1990-98), the College of Science and Technology, Jerusalem (1991-94), Al-Quds University (1992-98), the Islamic University of Gaza (since 1992), and the Society Development Association, Jerusalem (2002-03); Exec. Board member of Al-Maqassed Islamic Charitable Society, Jerusalem (1990-92) and the Arab Orphan Committee (since 1981); member of the Higher Council for Vocational and Technical Education and Training, Jerusalem since 2004; has written several research papers, incl. a study on vocational training in the OPT (Arab Thought Forum, Jerusalem, 1988); died on 6 Feb. 2006 in Jerusalem.
