Born in Jenin in 1949; better known as Hikmat Zeid; holds a BA; served as PA Ambassador to Hungary; was elected PLC member (Fateh-Independent) for the Jenin District in the Jan. 1996 elections; Chairman of the Board of the Palestinian Airlines; was appointed as PA Agriculture Minister, serving from 1998-2002; then appointed Minister of Transportation in the cabinet of PM Ahmed Qrei’a of 12 Nov. 2003 (until cabinet reshuffle in 2005); ran unsuccessfully in the 2006 PLC elections (Independent, Jenin district); was appointed as adviser to PA Pres. Mahmoud Abbas in 2006.
