Born in Acre in 1963 to parents originally from Al-Rameh; sister of Khaled Jubran; was first introduced to traditional Arabic poetry and classical Arabic music by her father Elias who was an instrument maker and a music teacher; moved to Jerusalem in 1981 to study Social Work at the Hebrew University; joined the Palestinian musical group Sabreen in Jerusalem in 1982 and became its lead singer for 20 years (until 2002, when she began a solo career); also played Oud, Qanoon, and other oriental instruments; made four CDs with Sabreen; took up an artist’s residence in Berne, Switzerland, in 2002, and since moves between Berne and Paris; has toured several Arab and European cities with her own productions, Mahattaat (Phases) and Wameedd (Sparkle) since 2002.
