Born in Dura, near Hebron, in 1955; received his elementary and secondary education in Hebron; then studied Business Administration and Accounting at the Lebanese Arab University from 1974-78, graduating with a BA; continued his studies and received an MA in International Law from Damascus University, Syria, in 1980; moved to Saudi Arabia later that year and worked as a financial and administrative manager of a Saudi-British firm in Riyadh; was financial manager of the Arab Gulf Program for supporting UN developmental organizations until 1995; returned to Palestine in 1996 and was employed by the International Labor Organization (ILO), also becoming its representative to the PLO; was among the founders of the National Fund for Labor and Social Welfare in Palestine; died in Jerusalem on 7 July 2005 and was buried in Hebron.
