Born in Galilee in 1961; brother of Kamilya Jubran; was first introduced to classical Arabic music by his father Elias who was an instrument maker and a music teacher; joined the [Israeli] Communist Party; studied Medicine for three years in Jerusalem but gave up when he discovered his real interest was with music; studied at Rubin Music Academy in Jerusalem from 1985-92; taught at the Rubin Academy, then founded and headed the Arabic Music Dept. of the Palestinian National Conservatory of Music in Ramallah from 1994-2000; is a member of its Oriental Music Ensemble; founded the Urmawi Center for Mashriq Music in 2002, aimed at preserving musical heritage and producing music; is a member of Sabreen; studies towards a second degree in modern composition at the Rubin Academy of Music; composes and performs regularly as oud and bouzouki solo artist locally and abroad; has produced several CDs, incl., most recently Mazamir  (Psalms) (2005).
