Born in Ramleh in 1908; attended the St. George’s and the Friends’ Boys Schools in Jerusalem and Ramallah, then the Terra Sancta High School; studied Political Science and Economics at the AUB, graduating with a BA in 1928; continued his studies in England and received an MA in Civil Administration from the London School of Economics in 1931; returned and was appointed by the British Mandate authorities as Head of the Publications Dept. of the General Secretariat in Jerusalem from 1932-35 then as District Commissioner from 1935-45; became Director of the Arab Libraries in Washington from 1945-47; was elected member of the Jordanian Parliament from 1950-56; served as Minister of Trade and Agriculture from 1949-50 and Minister of Economy in 1953; later became Minister of Economy and Construction, Minister of Economy and Finance, Minister of Economy (April 1957) and Minister of Education (May 1958); in summer 1958, was appointed FM for the Arab Union (between Jordan and Iraq); was shot during the Iraqi revolution in July 1958, while visiting Baghdad as member of a Jordanian delegation (together with Ibrahim Hashim and Suleiman Tuqan) and hospitalized in Amman; from May-Sept. 1959, Minister of National Economy; from Sept. 1959-Aug. 1960, Minister of Economy and Construction; member of the House of Senates until 1962; died in the 1980s.
