Born in Cairo in 1935; attended the Teachers’ Training College in Ba’quba, Iraq, then Damascus University, Syria. From where he graduated with a BA in History; later studied at Century University in the USA towards an MBA; worked as a teacher and headmaster for UNRWA from 1953-57; then was Medical Representative of Boots Health Care from 1958-59; established the Jerusalem Drug Store (Masrouji Co. Ltd.) in 1959; also founded the Jerusalem Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd. in 1969, becoming its Pres.; serves as Chairman of: Masrouji Co. Ltd., National Insurance Co.; also Chairman of the Palestine Investment and Development Co. (PADICO), National Towers Co. Ltd., United Stocks Exchange Co. Ltd., Al-Mustaqbal Schools, Ramallah, the Mount David Hospital, Bethlehem, the Birzeit University Friends’ Association, and the Union of Palestinian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers; member of the Board of Directors of the Palestine Investment Bank; Pres. of the Palestinian Businessmen Association, Vice-Pres. of the Arab Businessmen Federation; Board of Trustees member of Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, Ramallah, the Arab Thought Forum, Jerusalem, and MIFTAH (The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy); founding member of the Coordinating Council for Private Sector Organizations; member, National Task Force and the National Reform Committee.
