Born in Gaza in 1966; activist in the first Intifada and was imprisoned in Israeli jails; senior Fateh leader in the Gaza Strip; member of the Fateh Revolutionary Council; member of Fateh Higher Committee in Gaza, considered to be one of the younger generation of reformers within the movement; has repeatedly called for elections for Fateh institutions as well as for an end to corruption; holds the rank of a Colonel; served as deputy to the head of Preventive Security in Gaza, Rashid Abu Shbak; belongs to the Abu Rish Brigades that emerged during the second Intifada as a militant offshoot of Fateh; has been closely involved in the recent national dialogue between Fateh and Hamas; was prevented by Israel from traveling to Egypt to participate in the PLO-Hamas dialogue in 2002 was appointed as General Observer for the PA Interior Ministry and Security Apparatus in 2003; currently member of the Fateh Mobilization and Organization Office in charge of national relations.
