SHIBLI AL-JAMAL

From Jerusalem; Arab Christian; was member of the Jama’iyyat Al-Adab Az-Zahira (“The Zahira Literary Society”), which was founded by a number of Jerusalem intellectuals, incl. Issa Al-Issa and Khalil Sakakini, in 1898; worked in politics for a short period, was assigned tasks because of his economic expertise; mostly engaged in tourism; was part of the first Palestine Arab Delegation to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, UK, in 1921-22, serving as Secretary; was one of three secretaries of the Reform Party (Hizb Al-Islah), founded in 1935; was a member of the delegation that traveled to London after the 1936 Revolt to meet the Minister for the Colonies; died at the end of WWII; died in 1944.
