Born in Hebron in 1912; studied at Al-Azhar University in Cairo; returned to Palestine and worked in the religious courts of Jaffa, Lydda and Safed and as an educator in Jaffa, Lydda, and Hebron; was appointed Deputy-Mufti of Jerusalem by Sheikh Hussam Eddin Jarallah after the British Mandate; served as Chief Magistrate for Jordan and Mufti of the Jordanian army; later worked in education in Saudi Arabia and Qatar; returned to Palestine and worked as a counselor in the Dept. of Education in Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah and Al-Bireh until he retired in 1975; was appointed Mufti of Jerusalem by Jordan in Feb. 1993 until he died on 11 Oct. 1994.
