Born in Khan Younis in 1955; graduated with a BA in Law and an MA in International Relations from Cairo University; worked as a lawyer and was active in the Palestinian Bar Association as well as the Palestinian Teacher Association; was elected PLC member (Fateh affiliated Independent) for the Khan Younis district in the 1996 elections; served as Chairman of the PLC Legal Committee from 1998-2003; member of the PLC Budget and Finance Committee; became briefly Minister of Justice in the cabinet of PM Mahmoud Abbas on 30 April 2003 until the reshuffle on 7 Oct. 2003; ran unsuccessfully in the 2006 PLC elections (Independent, Khan Younis district).
