Born in Jenin on 4 July 1952; received a degree in Medicine from Granada University, Spain in 1978; is a member of Fateh and its External Relations Committee; was Deputy Representative of the PLO to Spain and Portugal from 1970-80, to Mexico from 1981-89, and to Brazil from 1989-95; returned to Palestine and was appointed deputy head of International Cooperation at MOPIC, serving from 1995-2002; was Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs during 2002-2003, and since then serves as Deputy Minister of Information; was a member of the Palestinian delegation to different UNGA sessions and other international summits; was re-appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Oct. 2005 (until after the 2006 PLC elections).
