AHMED TAWFIQ KHALIL

Birth: 17/5/1914 Death:1/1/1985
Born in Haifa on 17 May 1914; studied at the AUB, graduating with a BSc in 1934; went to England to continue his studies and received a BA in Political Science from Cambridge University in 1939, as well as an MS in 1942; later studied Law at Cambridge (LLM); returned to Palestine and was appointed by the British as Magistrate and Registrar in the Haifa district in 1940, and later as Head of District Judges in Palestine, a post he held until 1948; during the 1950s under Jordanian rule, was appointed military governor of Nablus and Administrative Governor for the West Bank; in the early 1960s, traveled to Amman and established his own law office; became a judge at the Court of Appeal and served as a member of the Jordanian Upper House of Parliament from 1972; died in 1985
