Born in 1939 in Bethlehem; studied towards a BA in Law and an MA in International Relations; elected PLC member (Fateh) for the Bethlehem District in the Jan. 1996 elections; independent member of the PLO Central Council; entrepreneur; Director of the Palestinian Contractors Union (until 2004); was elected secretary to the PLC Budget Committee in 1998 and 1999; elected in Nov. 1999 to replace Azmi Shu’aibi as chair of the Budget Committee after the latter resigned; re-elected as chair of the Budget and Finance Committee until 2003.
