Born in Jaffa in the early 1940s; grew up in Lydda, from where his family was evicted during the 1948 Nakba; graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; immigrated to the US in 1970; worked as a research pharmacist; began collecting, together with his wife Hanan Munayyer, antique Palestinian national and bridal dresses in 1987 and produced a videotape on Palestinian National Costumes: Preserving the Legacy, as well as a series of greeting cards; later they added more dresses as well as accessories and founded the Palestine Heritage Foundation in 1992 to preserve Palestinian arts and crafts and to educate people about Palestinian culture; received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC)-New Jersey in 2004, in recognition of his dedication and commitment to ADC, as well as all his efforts towards promoting understanding and civil rights.
