Born in Azzoun village near Qalqilya; grew up in Azzoun; began assisting the Palestinian rebels in the mid-1930s by providing them with food, arms and clothes; fought the British Army in the fields together with male fighters; is the first Palestinian woman known to have died in combat; was killed in Wadi Azzoun on 26 June 1936; her son Mahmoud also participated in the revolts of 1936 and was beheaded by the British Mandate in 1939 in Jerusalem.
