Born in Beit Jala in 1954; joined the UNRWA Teachers’ Institute in Amman, Jordan and graduated in 1973; became Director of the cultural section of Al-Hurriyah (a magazine published in Beirut and later in Damascus); then served as Managing Editor of Bayader magazine, published by the PLO in Tunisia (whose Executive Editor was Ahmad Dahbour); after his return to Palestine, he became director of Masharef magazine, whose editor-in-chief was Emile Habibi; then editor-in-chief of Al-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), a literary periodical published in Ramallah; also works as poet and novelist; his collections include Rayat (Cyprus, 1984); was awarded the poetry prize by the Jordanian Writers Union in 1977; editor of the cultural page in Al-Ayyam newspaper, Ramallah.
