Born in Tulkarem in 1903; studied at the Ottoman Islamic College in Beirut in 1916 and later Law at the American University in Palestine (1923); held several government positions, incl. mayor of Tulkarem and head of the Tulkarem Court from 1938-48; became Deputy of the local Education Committee, as well as a member of the Arab Executive Committee, representing Tulkarem from 1948-51; was appointed to several ministerial post by the Jordanian government in the 1950s-60s, incl. Minister of Transport (Oct. 1950); Minister of Agriculture, Building and Construction (until July 1951), Minister of Transport (until Sept. 1952), Minister of Interior (May-Oct. 1954); Minister of Trade and Commerce (Oct. 1954-May 1955); Minister of Agriculture, Post and Communication, and Civil Aviation (Dec. 1955-Jan. 1956); Minister of Finance (until Jan. 1962); remained a member of the Jordanian parliament until Nov. 1963; became a Jordanian senator in Nov. 1963; was appointed again as Minister of Finance until March 1969; retired in Oct. 1971; died in the late 1980s.
