Born in Jerusalem in 1953; BA in Journalism and Public Relations, Al-Azhar University; editor of Al-Quds newspaper (1980-83); editor in chief of Al-Fajr newspaper (1983); participated in the Madrid peace conferences and in the subsequent talks in Washington; worked with Faisal Husseini at the Orient House (1992-94); was elected in the Jan. 1996 PLC elections (one of the six seats for the Jerusalem constituency); served as Secretary of the PLC Jerusalem Committee and was a member of the PLC Public Monitoring Committee; critic of corruption and human rights abuses; ran unsuccessfully in the 2006 PLC elections (Fateh, Jerusalem district).
