Born in Ramallah in 1960; was imprisoned by the Israel authorities for 11 years from 1978-89 for membership in Fateh and organizing attacks against Israeli targets; was a member of the UNLU during the first Intifada; was among the founders of the Fateh Higher Committee in 1992 and the political work committees in the OPT in the early 1990s; was elected Sec.-Gen. of the Fateh Higher Committee in the West Bank in 1999; among the leading Fateh activists in the second Intifada.
