ISHAQ DARWISH

Birth: NULL/NULL/1896 Death:NULL/NULL/1974
Born in Jerusalem in 1896; studied in Beirut; served with the Ottoman army during WWI; after the War, joined the Arab Club in Jerusalem (1918-20), which was headed by his uncle Haj Amin Al-Husseini; became First Secretary of the Muslim-Christian Association; was a longtime aide to the Mufti Haj Amin; helped establish the pan-Arab Istiqlal Party in 1932; was editor of a magazine published by the Islamic Orphanage House (Dar Al-Aytam Al-Islamiyyah) in 1933; lived in exile in the mid-1940s; was a member of the fourth Arab Higher Committee in 1947; after the 1948 defeat, he lived mostly in Beirut and London; died in 1974.
