Born in Beit Sahour on 8 Jan. 1947; was raised in Beit Sahour; received a BSc in Food Technology from Cairo University, Egypt in 1968; worked as Agricultural Extension Agent, Ramallah, 1968-69; supervisor of Science and Agricultural Education, Directorate of Education, Bethlehem and Jericho, 1971-76; continued meanwhile his studies and earned an MSc in Food Science from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1974 and a PhD in Biology from the University of East Anglia, UK, in 1978; Associate Professor in the Dept. of Life Sciences at Bethlehem University since 1983; member of the American Association of Plant Physiologists since 1984; member of the Phytochemical Society of Europe since 1985; Board of Trustees member of the Arab Thought Forum since 1986; Dir.-Gen. of the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) in Bethlehem since 1991.
