JAMAL YOUSEF ELIAS SALSA’

Born in Beit Sahour in 1943 to a Palestinian Christian family; studied Medicine and Surgery at Ein Shams University in Egypt from 1963-69; worked as a doctor in Bethlehem, then became Pres. of the Jericho Hospital from 1970-72; Fateh activist and literary writer; co-founder and member of the West Bank Palestinian Writers’ Union from 1980-88, also serving as member of its Board of Directors in 1986; co-founder and Director of the Creative Cultural Forum in Bethlehem since 1993; co-founder and active in the Fateh movement doctors’ offices Al-Makateb Al-Harakiyyah Lil Atibba’ since 1998 and its Sec.-Gen. for the Bethlehem area; author of some 20 literary publications; was awarded the Rashed Hussein Prize in 1991 and the Tawfiq Zayyad Literary Prize in 1998; currently member of the General Assembly of the Palestinian Writers Union; member of the Christian Affairs Committee at the Fateh Foreign Affairs Dept.; among his publications Hadith Al-Juroh (Jerusalem, 1988).
