Born in Jerusalem on 5 June 1949; received a degree in Arabic Language from Beirut Arab College; was arrested by the Israeli authorities in March 1969 and detained for nearly a year; worked as journalist and editor of Al-Fajr newspaper from 1975-76; then became an Arabic Language teacher at Ar-Rashidiyyah Secondary School in Jerusalem from 1977-90; also worked as editor of Al-Kateb (the Writer) magazine from 1981-91; was among the founders of the Union of Palestinian Writers and member of its Exec. Board; also co-founder of the Union of Palestinian Journalists; Board of Trustees member of the Palestinian National Theater and Al-Kasaba Theater in Jerusalem; works as head of the PR at the Governorate Jerusalem / Abu Dis; Director of Board of Directors of the Jerusalem Center for Democracy and Human Rights; has written numerous articles, reports and books on Palestinian folklore, theater and politics, incl. Social And Economic Changes In Arab Al-Sawahreh Village (Arabic, 1986), Al-Qada Al-Asha’iri (Clan Law) (1987), The Suffering of Children Under Occupation (co-authored, 2002).
