Born in Jerusalem in 1950; received a BA in Literature/Geography from Damascus University in 1974; worked as Geography teacher from 1974-80 in Jordan, Libya, and Jerusalem; was arrested by Israel in 1981; worked at the Arab Studies Society in Jerusalem from 1983, incl. as head of its Cartography Dept.; was a member of the Palestinian delegation for the final status talks on Jerusalem, Settlements and Borders; served as head of the Map and Survey Dept. at the Orient House; received MA in Geographical Information System from Arizona State University in 1998; is member of the Central Committee for Construction and Planning in Jerusalem; among his publications are Palestine Map (1986), The Map of Settlements in the West Bank in Gaza (1994), and Israeli Settlements (1994).
