Born in Sanour, Jenin, on 13 Sept. 1935; received a BA in Social Studies from Damascus University, Syria, in 1966; returned and worked as a teacher with UNRWA in Nablus from 1954-59; then taught in Saudi Arabia from 1959-63; returned and became a lecturer at An-Najah Teacher Training Institute in Nablus from 1965-67; was a member of the National Guidance Committee from 1978-82; served as editor-in-chief of Al-Fajr daily newspaper from 1977-83; was a member of the Arab Thought Forum from 1978-1998; ran his own commercial business after 1983; currently lives in Amman.
