MUSTAFA MURAD AL-DABBAGH

Birth: NULL/NULL/1898 Death:NULL/NULL/1989
Born in Jaffa in 1898; studied at the Amiriyah School in Jaffa, then continued his education in Beirut; was sent to serve in the Ottoman army in Istanbul from 1915-18; during the 1916 Arab Revolt, joined the Arab army headed by Emir Abdullah; returned to Palestine in 1919 and worked as a teacher and headmaster in Hebron, then at the Teachers’ College in Jerusalem until 1925; became an assistant educational inspector in Nablus and Gaza (1927-33), then inspector in Jaffa (1933-40); after 1948, moved to Syria and worked as a teacher in a high school in Aleppo; later became head of the Islamic Maqassed School in Beirut; was appointed Deputy Minister for Education in Jordan in the 1950s, then Sec.-Gen. at the Ministry of Education in Qatar (until 1961); published numerous books, one of which is the ten-volume encyclopedia Our Country Palestine (Arabic, Beirut: 1st Vol., 1965); published other works on the Arab homeland, including on Qatar (Arabic, 1961) and the Arab Peninsula (Arabic, 1962); died in 1989.
