Born in Haifa in 1891; received his early education in Palestine; worked for the Hijaz rail road; was a member of the Istiqlal Party, founded in 1932; was known for his partnership with Sheikh Izz Eddin Al-Qassam; activist in the 1936 Revolt; was among the Palestinian notables invited by Egyptian PM Mohammed Mahmoud Pasha to discuss and modify the British White Papers (following the London Conference in 1939); died in Amman in 1953 and was buried in Damascus; his biography was written and published by Prof. Walid Khalidi (IPS, Beirut, 2006).
