Born in Jerusalem in 1952; studied at the Fine Arts Dept. of Cairo University; worked as a painter; taught Art at Rawdat Az-Zuhur School in Jerusalem (in the late 1990s) and lectured in Fine Arts at Al-Quds University; was Pres. of the Palestinian Artists League from 1990-96; member of the Palestinian Curriculum Arts and Crafts Committee; author of an Art Education book for secondary-level schools; serves as Inspector for Fine Arts in Jerusalem schools; is a member of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian National Theater, of Al-Quds Club, and of Al-Wasiti Art Center in Jerusalem; served as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Al-Quds University from 2001-03; has participated in many local and international exhibitions; received several honorary certificates for his work, among others, from the Welfare Association, the Biennale Al-Sharqua (UAE), and the Jerusalem Committee; has received various prizes, incl. the First Award of the Palestine Ecologic Exhibition in Jerusalem (1986), and the First Award of the ‘Jesus in the Palestinian Context’ exhibition, Bethlehem (2003).
