Born in Sandala (Marj Ben Amer) on 11 Feb. 1957; studied International Relations at Hebrew University from 1977-81, graduating with a BA; obtained a Higher Diploma in Journalism and Communication from Ramat Aviv University in 1988; worked as reporter for Israeli affairs at the Journal of Palestine Studies, Jerusalem, from 1989-92; worked as reporter for the Palestine Press Service in Jerusalem from 1979-90, incl. as head of its Israeli Affairs Desk in 1985; worked as reporter for Radio Orient (since 1990), MBC TV Station (in 1995), Multi-Kulti Radio Station in Berlin (since 1995) and Al-Mustaqbal Daily Newspaper (1999-2000); also acts as coordinator for the Radio Training Program at the Media Institute at Birzeit University since 1996; is the Bureau Chief of Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel in Palestine since 1996; was awarded the PA’s Palestine International Prize for Journalism in 2000; received the Recognition Award from the United Holy Land Fund in 2000 for his courageous coverage of Al-Aqsa Uprising, and the Award of This Year’s Media Personality from the Arab Press Club in 2001.
